Global Connector Program set to launch – local investors / startup entrepreneurs invited to join

The Seed Global, the international face of VA Angels, has been selected by TEC Edmonton to bring Canadian angels and companies together with investors and startup entrepreneurs in several major centres across Latin America over the next two years through the Global Connector Program.

“This is about two highly experienced, world-class companies, VA Angels and TEC Edmonton, joining forces to help build robust startup and entrepreneur ecosystems in Latin America,” said R. Stewart Thompson, CEO and founder of VA Angels and 2014 Startup Canada Investor of the Year. “Our team at The Seed Global has great relationships in both the investing and startup communities in Latin America and is on the ground in the region with an office in Lima.”

TEC Edmonton, renowned as one of the most effective growth accelerators for emerging technology-based companies in Canada, selected The Seed Global to deliver it’s Global Connector Program after an in-depth RFP process. The Global Connector Program aims to foster an ecosystem where local entrepreneurs are better trained and better prepared to raise capital.

“We are calling on the best startups and most active angels in Latin American to participate in Global Connector,” said Luke Krueger, president and co-founder of The Seed Global. “This is aunique opportunity to engage with experienced angels and entrepreneurs to learn first hand about the process of placing value on investment opportunities, to build technical competence in deal structure, and to get a soft launch into the world of angel investing.”

The Seed Global is part of the VA Angels umbrella organization with a robust Canadian Angel investment network at its core. The network boasts more than 130 members in five chapters (Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Kelowna and Medicine Hat) and has invested over $44 million in 150+ deals since 2003. A core VA Angels offering, BaseCamp, will be a critical component of the Latin American program. VA Angels BaseCamp is an exclusive investment seminar for startups where Mr. Thompson and other experienced investors provide insight from an investor’s perspective about how to successfully raise the right type of capital at the right value.
